A mad dash guide to Miami

I’ve been trying to see a lot of America this year. And Miami had always been one of those cities high on the list to check out. So when a friend decided to celebrate his birthday there, a weekend away was the perfect excuse to check out Miami.

For starters, it is unfair as to how beautiful the weather is there all the time and the water is the most perfect shade of blue/green I have ever seen. Not too crowded or rocky, it really is a great city to just hang out and restore from the stress of New York life.

Stay –

Soho House is located a little further than the main part of town but is only a 10 minute cab ride away. The long narrow pool here is a swimmers dream, though not much of that happens here. It is a city hot spot and definitely where the fashion crowd hangs out. Two days of looking at the perfect bodies of the women in Miami was the incentive I needed to start working out again.

The Standard comes highly recommended by my friends as well.

Eat –

I recently tried Latin food in Dubai for the first time and really enjoyed it. So when Yuca came up as a potential dinner option, I was happy to try it. The food was great and the service was terrific..the variety of margaritas are sure to impress. Another fun dinner option purely for its history and decor was the Versace Mansion. While the food was mediocre at Gianni’s, the mansion and the little oasis Versace had been able to build is worth a visit.

Shopping and must-visits –

I’d been following the work of Laure Heriard Dubreuil for quite a while now and was super excited to finally see the 20,000 sq feet masterpiece that is The Webster. It is so hard to articulate the exceptional curation Laure has managed to execute, it is any fashion girls dream store. If there is fashion candyland – this is it. Set across three floors based on lifestyle, her interplay of brands and looks is seamless. She quietly pays homage to her background with a photo of YSL (she spent part of her career there) and an art collection that is enviable (her husband is artist Aaron Young).

An afternoon soaking in the sun by the pool at The Raleigh. If it was good enough for Esther Williams, it is good enough for me. Seriously though, I discovered this iconic pool when Chanel hosted their resort runway here a few seasons ago.

There’s weird magic at the beach in Miami, or maybe it was the overdose of Vitamin D that I soaked in – but the beach really has to be the top priority on your trip here. Jet skis and hot men galore, it’s hard for a girl to pass up.

Bikini – Kiini, Sunglasses – Ray Ban, Bag – Cult Gaia , Bracelet – I don’t have a sister, Hat – H&M , Shoes – Robert Clergerie, Maxi dress – Miss Guided (similar here)
