Something borrowed, something Blue

A couple months ago I said I would start blogging more regularly. But so much has happened since then that has taken precedence over the blog that I took a step back from doing what I love so much. Please know that I’ve missed being able to speak and connect with all of you. I felt like I was scraping the bottom for a while but it feels so good to be coming back up for air – I’ve managed to finally curb the blues.

What is it about being at the bottom of a barrel that helps give so much perspective? Is it knowing that your previously held beliefs no longer stand true or that you realize sometimes things happen at the time they’re meant for you? I’ve heard a lot of people say this about us millennials – we are an impatient bunch. We forget that good things take time to build.

And impatient as I may be, when you feel like you’re in hell, a day can feel like a millennium. That’s the tipping point though – to know where you stand. Is it something worth fighting for or do you learn to walk away?! Being a stubborn Virgo, maybe that’s been my problem all along. I don’t know when to stop pushing and learn to walk away. It is my greatest strength and my biggest weakness.

I’ve had a lot of time to mull over where my life is heading lately. And I can’t help but be amazed at how much my perspective on things has changed. I’m not going to pretend that I’ve had a magical epiphany where everything is clear all of a sudden and it’s smooth sailing, but I’m learning to let go of a lot of peripheral noise and invest in things and people that stand the test of time.

So speaking of classics, I found this shoot I did in collaboration with The Fashion Edit a year ago. You know you’ve found a keeper when it can look relevant a year later. Shot on a day similar to the baking heat of NYC today, I’m wearing a draped top from Namrata Joshipura and my favorite spring jacket from Sacai. Every gal needs an easy ripped pair of boyfriend jeans and some white pumps to get you through the summer.

I have exciting news to share with you next time…so let’s put away the blues!

Top by Namrata Joshipura, Jeans by Zara, Jacket by Sacai (similar here on sale), Pumps by Chanel ( another comfortable option here), Cuff Vintage (here), Clutch by Love to Bag (a beautiful substitute here), Updated white sunnies from Stella McCartney
